Pressure piles on Gio after Pathetic Performance
Rangers FC reached the Premier Sports Cup semi final on Wednesday after a 1-0 win vs Scottish Championship side Dundee. However, passage into the next round was just about the only positive of a bleak match at Ibrox. In his post match interview, manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst confessed himself how poor his side were, bluntly stating he was 'not happy' whilst appearing visibly angry. Despite this honesty, many Rangers FC fans will be looking for less talk and more action from the man in the hot seat to improve the painfully below par performances we have been seeing from his team in recent weeks.
Seven changes were made to the team that narrowly beat Motherwell, with a rare outing from big money summer signing Ridvan Yilmaz pleasing many fans. His performance over the 90 minutes was a point of minor excitement on an otherwise dismal night. All started well when veteran Steven Davis burst into the box and nodded home the rebound of a Scott Wright effort inside 10 minutes. That was all the Rangers FC fans had to cheer about and all that there was to report in all honesty. With Dundee offering nothing, Rangers FC still created absolutely nothing and it looked for all the world that none of the players even bothered to try. Besides Malik Tillman, the Rangers FC players showed zero desire, pride or will to win and were rewarded with what they deserved at full time by those in the stands, a chorus of boos. The game was a difficult watch and even more difficult to write a report on with no points of real quality outwith the goal. Despite this, the job is done and we will meet Aberdeen at Hampden in the semi final, where we must really step up our game.
